FEEL BETTER
Your body deserves care that is specific to you.
Pain, poor sleep, exhaustion, stress, hormonal or digestive changes, injury, or simply not feeling like yourself can make the rest of life smaller.
My private practice offers individualized care to understand what is happening, support what needs attention, and help you feel and function better.
SOMETIMES WHAT YOU NEED IS DIRECT CARE
Not every physical symptom needs to become a psychological problem.
Sometimes a painful back needs treatment. An exhausted body needs recovery. Sleep needs support. A changing hormonal system needs attention.
At the same time, we live our whole lives through our bodies. Physical health is shaped by stress, workload, injury, age, training, illness, relationships, habits, recovery, and change.
My job is to look at the whole picture without reducing one part of you to another.
Care for the body. Learn from it.
WHAT CAN WE WORK WITH?
People come to me for many reasons, including:
Pain + physical function
Pain, muscle tension, mobility limitations, injury recovery, physical overload, and bodies that are not moving or functioning as well as they could.
Stress + recovery
Chronic stress, depletion, difficulty recovering after demanding periods, and the physical effects of carrying too much for too long.
Sleep + energy
Difficulty settling, disrupted sleep, fatigue, and the downstream effects of inadequate recovery.
Hormonal + whole-body changes
Menopause and other hormonal transitions, digestive concerns, changing energy, and more complex patterns involving several systems at once.
Understanding your body
Sometimes the goal is not simply symptom relief. You want to understand what your body is telling you, what genuinely helps, and how to support yourself more intelligently over time.
HOW I WORK
Assessment
We begin with what is actually happening: your symptoms, health history, what has changed, what makes things better or worse, and how you are sleeping, moving, eating, recovering, and functioning.
We also consider what is happening in your life when it may be relevant.
The goal is not to force everything into a single explanation. It is to understand enough of the whole picture to know where to begin.
Treatment
Care is shaped around the problem in front of us.
Depending on your needs and the type of session, treatment may include Chinese medicine, acupuncture, hands-on bodywork, guided movement, breath or meditation practices, herbal guidance, and supportive therapeutic technologies.
We use what is useful—not everything simply because it is available.
Reorientation
Good treatment should help you beyond the hour you spend with me.
When useful, we look at what your body may need between sessions: movement, rest, recovery, a change in load, a home practice, additional care, or simply a clearer understanding of what is happening.
The goal is not endless treatment. It is greater function, greater self-knowledge, and greater freedom in your life.
PRIVATE CARE OPTIONS
IN-PERSON CARE
When being in the room matters.
In-person care gives us the fullest access to physical assessment, acupuncture, hands-on treatment, movement, and other embodied approaches.
It is especially useful when pain, mobility, recovery, physical tension, stress physiology, or a more complex pattern needs direct attention.
These are not assembly-line acupuncture appointments.
We begin with what is happening that day and build the session around what will be most useful.
Especially useful for:
Pain + tension
Mobility + recovery
Sleep + stress
Physical overload
Complex or long-standing patterns
People who value direct, individualized hands-on care
VIRTUAL CONSULTATIONS
Sometimes what you need most is clarity.
Not every problem requires hands-on treatment.
Virtual consultations give us time to look carefully at your symptoms, history, patterns, current health practices, and what you have already tried—then determine a useful way forward.
Where appropriate, Chinese medicine, herbal guidance, home practices, and other individualized recommendations may become part of that plan.
Virtual care is also useful when you want informed support but cannot come to the office.
Especially useful for:
Understanding a complicated health picture
Chinese medicine consultation
Herbal guidance, where appropriate
Health and recovery planning
Clarifying what kind of care may be useful next
People who live outside the area

AESTHETIC CARE
Support the skin's natural capacity for renewal.
Aesthetic care can still be thoughtful healthcare.
My approach is conservative and evidence-informed, with an emphasis on supporting the skin's own repair and remodeling processes rather than trying to make you look like someone else.
Microneedling + Red Light Therapy
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injury intended to stimulate the skin's repair response. Red and near-infrared light may be used alongside it to support recovery and healthy cellular function.
This approach may be appropriate for people interested in improving:
Texture + tone
Fine lines + early photoaging
Post-acne texture
Overall skin quality
Results develop gradually. This is biological remodeling, not an instant cosmetic effect.
We also screen carefully for circumstances in which microneedling or light therapy should be postponed or avoided.
CARE IS PART OF FREEDOM
Feeling better is not a superficial goal.
Pain constrains us.
Exhaustion constrains us.
Poor sleep changes what we can access. An injured body changes what we can do. Chronic tension can make the world feel smaller.
So yes, I want you to feel better.
But I also want care to give you something larger: more ability to use your body, understand it, trust what you are learning from it, and participate fully in the life you want to live.
The aim is not freedom from having a body or from the realities of being human.
It is greater freedom within them.
WHAT PRIVATE PRACTICE IS—AND ISN'T
Private Practice is not simply Code Calm taught one-to-one.
It is individualized healthcare and embodied care.
Code Calm may become useful when the way you are meeting pain, stress, uncertainty, or another part of your experience matters to the work. But a physical problem deserves physical care whether or not it carries a larger meaning.
Not everything needs to be processed.
Sometimes your body needs treatment.
Sometimes you need information.
Sometimes you need recovery.
Sometimes you need to listen differently.
The work begins with what is actually needed.
WHY WORK WITH ME?
I have practiced Chinese medicine and acupuncture in California since 2002, working with people through pain, stress, recovery, health transitions, and the complicated territory where physical health meets the life being lived around it.
Over more than two decades of clinical practice, one principle has become increasingly important to me:
Good care should not make you more dependent on the practitioner.
It should help you feel better, understand yourself more clearly, recognize what supports your health, and become increasingly capable of participating in your own care and your own life.
That is the standard I bring to my private practice.
READY TO FEEL BETTER?
You do not need to know exactly what kind of treatment you need before you begin.
Start with what is happening and what you would like help with.
We can determine the rest from there.
